Fenix E18R Initial review.

Striking, striking and very capable - are a few words that summarize this light.
Meet the Fenix E18R, an exquisitely built thumb size light

From it's sleek body, to it's copper colored embellishments, and to it's stunning reflector system, this light is GOOD LOOKING!

I mean, right? <3

I think this light was an official answer form Fenix to the very small light/EDC crowd. The answer was "We heard you, and we delivered".  The market is flooded with 18650 style lights, there's tons of them, everywhere. However, 123 battery style lights are not yet at that level, and of course, it's smart to make a light that can grab market share. This is one of those lights .

So, let's chat about what you get with your new Fenix E18R! Because after this review, you're going over to Fenix Lighting USA, or Fenix Store's website and ordering one, right?  :)

You get:
Light
Lanyard
Oring
Key ring
Battery
Magnetic charging cable
Installed Beltclip
Manual, warranty card.

And let's take a look at some pertinents from the manual.

Two things to really look at above:

The run time, especially on 150 lumen high mode, and look at the flat regulation on the modes!
They did an exceptional job here. The mode spacing is perfect.

This light feature magnetic charging.
The battery supplied is a standard button top, meaning it will work in your bay charger.
It's a clean and simple system, works well. Shown pictured here charging off of an Anker battery brick.

So, let's do a few videos here. :)

More pics? Certainly.

Thoughts:

Wow. Homerun. It's got the looks, the style, the functionality.  It's got the brawn to go with the beauty. The mode spacing is perfect, and symbiotic of the runtime. You see, Fenix is about being practical. Do you really need a 600 lumen high, when you'll have no runtime as a result? Do you really need a 1000 lumen turbo mode? No, you don't. The 750 on this light is more than enough.

Practical.

Things I didn't like. The lanyard. I like the old style Fenix lanyard. Although this one is nice, but it's just a preference of mine.

I will be doing a long term review of this, likely in the spring.

Look for these lights over at Fenix Lighting USA or The Fenix Store!
