There's something to be said about field reviews. I love them. The stumbling, mumbling, and fumbling aspect of it, makes it work. I just kind of shoot from the hip when I do these. No script.
This time we were at a back-country campsite. And this lantern passed it's tests shining brightly!
Conditions were dry, temps in the upper 30's (F) and moderate wind.
So, the light!!!
This light is a new release from Fenix. It features area lighting, directional lightning, red lighting and flashers.
The light utilizes a 2600mAh Fenix rechargeable battery that is supplied with it. In addition, the light is rechargeable via a Micro USB port with the supplied Fenix Cable.
The light features a well built and VERY durable plastic body, This stuff is tough, as evidenced with my other Fenix Lantern.
The light has a hanging hook, and a small clip. The base of the light is magnetic, and also has a female thread to be used with a tripod. This is great as you have many ways to use this light, it's versatility shines here.
So, let's see some pertinents!
One thing to point out here. The 25 lumens is directional, and gave a nice bit of light that was good enough to move all around my hammock, under the tarp with, read with it, etc. And with 58 hours of runtime in that mode, you see why this was such a big release, this light is incredible!
And as I mentioned above about the lights toughness...
So, let's take a closer look at this light in a video!
I'm quite impressed with it.
It's not a large light, but really has the output of one.
It has a diameter of 1.9" with a height of only 3.8".
Minus the battery it weighs 4.1 Oz, add another ounce or so with the battery.
This light is on my spring list of long term reviews. I plan on being out about 4 days with it.
Things I liked:
Versatile! So many ways to use it, and so many modes.
Run time: This light takes the cake here. 58 hours of usable, regulated light? Perfect!
CR123's: It can use them!
Improvements? Perhaps an IP68 rating? Unless the body of the light makes that rating impossible.
Well done, Fenix, well done!!
It's the CL26R from Fenix!
