Olight PL-2RL BALDR weapon light.

There's a first time for everything. And this is my first weapon light review. I'm sure there will be a few asking why I took no video while shooting with the light on. I just had no interest in doing so. Not to mention, this light is huge.

So, welcome the PL-2RL BALDR. I'm not entirely sure what BALDR stands for, so anyone from Olight that see's this review - leave me a message with the names meaning if you will :)

The BALDR is a robustly built weapons light.
The light uses a CREE XHP25 HI. Cranking out 1200 lumens.
The light can use either CR13A's or RCR123A's
The light uses a <5mW red laser.
It utilizes a TIR optic

First impression are that this is a large light system. The SIG in the pictures above is not a small frame pistol. Keep this in mind when you order one.

It's solid, and robustly built. Built to take a beating and absorb the shock from firing.

The light weighs just over 4oz.
Has an IPX6 rating. So, it can take strong splashes or a downpour of rain, but be wary about submersion.

Here is what you get:

Light.
  • Flashlight x 1
  • 1600mAh CR123A Battery x 2
  • 1913 Rail Mount (for 1913 Rail) x 1
  • T6/T8 Socket Head Wrench x 1
  • Allen Screw x 2
  • Instruction Manual

And here is the obligatory box picture.

More pics!

And finally, a few videos, then we'll discuss what I think!

Summary:

Not much to say! It's VERY well built light! It follows function over form.
It's easy to calibrate.
The light creates a very solid hotspot, and an intense one at that. The hotspot is perfect for targets at around 15-40ft
The lasers range is astounding. I could see it at 200ft with no issues.

A very impressive lighting system.
