I once said the the original SP32A was a diamond in the rough. I'm here to tell you that the SP32A V.2.0 is the finished, polished diamond.
Following on the heels of the wildly successful SP32A, Sofirn must have been listening, and they've greatly improved an already impressive light.
The primary differences between the original and version 2.0 is the switch, battery indicator and other things such as ATR (Automatic Temperature Regulation) Both lights claim to have AR coating on the lens, but on the 2.0 version the AR seems more robust, and greatly more apparent.
The led behind the button will light up in relation to how much battery power you have left. And the button has a better feel over the original version.
I have no way to graph output, but according to some over at CPF, the regulation of this light is perfectly flat.
In appearance, they look the same, sans the lens, the button, and the font/marking have changed a bit.
The finish is solid, looks like it changed? I will find an answer on that hopefully soon. The finish on the original I have wore off very fast, my hope is the the 2.0 is improved.
The box is the same, and overall rather plain. This has been a common complaint, but a box is a box. It has no effect on performance.
Let's take a look at both versions:
You've a few options when ordering.
You can get just the lights, or you can order the kit.
Here's what you get with the kit:
The light
A lanyard
Clip on light
O rings
Battery
USB single bar charger
USB cable
Happy/not happy card
Manual
The UI:
It's a single side button, that be configured how you like it. You can keep it in the simple Low/medium/high/turbo mode or you can choose ramping! Yes, this light has ramping! Reselect your mode into ramping and press and hold the side button to gradually decrease, or increase the amount of light it gives out. Think of it as a dimmer switch, and it works very well!
That all said let's watch some beamies!! will do a side by side of the original and the 2.0 here.
See below after cool pic. :)
Beamie vid!
Final summary.
It's a great light. It's difficult to find fault with it.
Time will tell though, as I have a long term coming up on the SP32A original in a few months then this version after that.
My only complaint with the original was the finish was wearing off fast.
This light is a win for Sofirn, and at the price they sell these at, it makes it a win-win for everyone.
Look them up on Amazon!!
Cheers!
